The testing of LUL's Sub-Surface Line (SSL) 'S stock' at the Old Dalby test track falls into three main areas
Tests of the first pre-production units
Once the first production SSL sets arrived from Litchurch Lane Works the following testing was carried out. Some of this was standard acceptance type testing and some was specified by LUL. Shakedown running and fault finding also took place and any mods were incorporated into the production build.
Electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) testing
High speed operability testing
High speed propulsion tests
Dynamic testing of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Brake and Wheel Slide Protection (WSP) equipment
Ride testing
Battery and auxiliary equipment testing
630/750v testing
One Person Operation (OPO) testing
Noise testing (internal and external)
Endurance running
Trials and training
Additionally at the beginning of the operation the following tests/trials were undertaken
Driver training
Emergency service training
Driver instructor training
Tests of the production trains
Now that the operation is gathering momentum the standard tests/checks are
Full commissioning - i.e. doors, brakes, power, etc
Customer acceptance
1000km fault-free running
validation of any modifications which may have arisen in the course of testing from day one
Once the units are officially accepted they are moved to Neasden ot West Ruislip depots for service running
