Northern end

The northern portal of Stanton Tunnel photographed in the summer of 1997. The former Up line was still in situ throughout the tunnel to a point about 500m to the south and had a connection to the running line at this end.

Sept 2000

Nearer to the former Plumtree Station in September 2000, the foundations for the overhead masts are in place but otherwise there is no sign of the impending changes

  June 2001

By June 2001 the overhead is up, the undergrowth removed and the track has been slewed to accommodate faster running

June 2001

Looking north towards Plumtree in June 2001, the railway looks every inch 'the real thing'

In the right-hand corner the base of one of the radio masts can be seen. These are installed throughout the line in conjunction with the Train Control System tests which were planned prior to its installation on the WCML. Unfortunately the fitment to WCML did not take place and little if any TCS testing was carried out at Old Dalby
