1956

In the summer of 1956 a freight train is being shunted into the sidings at Old Dalby as a local Melton - Nottingham draws into the station. John Oxley

Tribometer train

MPV

The first Multi-Purpose Vehicle ( MPV) DR 98901 in the compound at Old Dalby in February 1999

Compact Tamper

An Amey Railways tamper, which was undergoing braking trials, stands outside the compound whilst the test team take stock and have a brew in 1999.
Class 175

Coradia unit 175002 inside the compound at Old Dalby after having arrived from the Severn Valley Railway on 22nd November 1999 in connection with the driver training programme.

Class 180

Six months later, Adelante unit 180101 waits in the compound for the commencement of its commissioning running - note the raised coupler door

Heading north

In April 2000, Adelante unit 180101 heads north over the B676 from Old Dalby to Nether Broughton. The former stationmaster's house is just out of shot on the left. Note the high parapet on this side of the bridge - an explanation can be found on the 'Trip down the line' page.
