A Special excursion DMU for Dudley Zoo approaching the Down platform at Edwalton
on Sunday 27th July 1958. The station had been closed for many years so it is
not clear why there are so many people on both platforms. As it was a
Sunday all the signals would be pulled off as the box was probably locked out. J P Wilson |

Taken in 1967 through the observation windows of the 'Officer's saloon' or a similar vehicle being propelled along the line, this is the view near 120 MP looking on the Down line towards Edwalton and West Bridgford. This part of the line is now just to the north of the end of the test track and is adjacent to Edwalton Golf course. The footbridge is No: 18 (now removed) with the second Melton Road bridge (No:17) on the A606 visible through it also removed and filled in, with Edwalton station beyond. Author's collection |
